Arts Advantage Program
Over the past school year Arts Advantage districts' educators throughout Orange County, including SVUSD, were busy revising the standards-based curriculum for Visual Arts. The K-6 lessons were designed to build off each other from one grade level to the next so that students will learn and experience the Visual Arts curriculum with increasing depth and sophistication.
This year we will have 42 SVUSD teachers representing 7 schools participating in a workshop during January 6th of this school year. During this workshop our teachers will meet in grade level groups with teachers from other Arts Advantage districts to learn Unit 1 (there are 3 units) of the Visual Arts curriculum. They will return on March 3rd and again on April 29th to receive Units 2 and 3. A teacher specializing in Visual Arts will present lessons for each unit. The funding for this project is a combination of private grants and Title II.

2010 Art and Music Program Offered
The Orange County Museum of Art and Philharmonic Society of Orange County are pleased to present the 2010 Art and Music program, an interdisciplinary educational program for high school students. Students consider connections between the creative disciplines of visual art and music in a two-hour experience including a guided gallery tour and a live musical performance. This year's program features The Moving Image: Scan to Screen, Pixel to Projection, an exhibition showcasing important video and new media works from the museum's permanent collection. Award-winning composer and musician John Zeretzke demonstrates the art of setting sound to moving images in a new performance that explores such concepts as appropriation, pacing, and creating a mood. Students consider how images and music work together to create meaning. The Art and Music Program meets state learning standards for Visual and Performing Arts.
The Art and Music Program is offered FREE OF CHARGE with a transportation reimbursement of up to $100, available on a first come, first served basis. We have a limited number of dates available in February, so make your reservation today!
