Welcome to Serrano Intermediate, home of the Soaring Seahawks. We are proud of our academic excellence and we look forward to a new year of progress.
Serrano has high standards and expectations as shown through our dedicated teachers. Our supportive and professional staff members are here to offer any assistance you may need throughout the year. I encourage our students and parents to take advantage of all the support that Serrano has to offer.
The staff at Serrano believes that intermediate school is a time of transition for our students as they explore their creative and academic talents. Serrano offers many opportunities for students to be involved in academic, social, and creative outlets such as our award winning Peer Assisted Leadership (PAL), Leadership (ASB), Drama, Orchestra, Band, Jazz Band, Chorus and the California Junior Scholarship Federation (CJSF). We also offer career-technical education electives including Woodshop, Foods, Clothing, Art, Multimedia, Web Design, and Journalism. All of this, along with our Spanish, French, and academic support electives shows that Serrano has something for everyone.
Serrano is 100% dedicated to our students’ academic success. We work in professional learning communities (PLC) to monitor the progress of all students and through these communities we ensure all students are being successful.
Parents, I hope that you will take time to be involved with our school activities, even though this is a time when your child may be asking for more independence. By becoming a member of the Student Teacher Parent Organization (STPO), you can participate in school activities, and at the same time, provide valuable support to our Professional Learning Community.
Thanks to Measure B funds, Serrano is now completely modernized. All of our classrooms, food service area and kitchen, gymnasium, and performance stage are state of the art. The blacktop, upper/lower field, and the running track have been completely resurfaced.
Going into my second year at Serrano, I am proud to announce that we had the 4th largest increase in Academic Performance Index (API) score in the county. Each of our core departments and student subgroups made increases in their API scores and the number of students scoring over the proficient level. This was only possible through the hard work of our dedicated staff, tremendous support for our families and community, and of course the effort of our students.
I hope you find this website informative and helpful. Please contact us if you have any questions or comments throughout the year. I am looking forward to a great year!
Bob Presby, Principal
